San Foundation provides fellowship funding for significant brain research at the San.
The San Foundation have provided 50% of the funding towards a Post-Doctoral Fellowship for Dr Jade Berg to enable the continuation of her highly significant research into the causes of oxidative and inflammatory activity leading to degenerative brain disease in the elderly. Dr Berg’s work will serve as a foundation for the establishment of a "Healthy Brain Aging" program here at the San.
"Dr Berg’s work will gain the additional information needed to develop a comprehensive program for neurodegenerative disorders (such as Alzheimer’s). Funding from the San Foundation has made it possible for the ARI to add to its growing corpus of knowledge in particular in the areas of NAD+ metabolism and lifestyle driven effects on oxidative and inflammatory degeneration.
On behalf of Dr Berg and the ARI team I would like to extend a sincere thank you for the funding provided by San Foundation, through the hard work of Barbara Ward and her team. Without the support of the San Foundation Dr Berg and the ARI would not be able to continue the foundational work that we hope will lead to a program that can genuinely improve cognitive outcomes for one of society’s growing and most vulnerable populations" said Professor Ross Grant, CEO, Australasian Research Institute.
