

Having graduated from SCEGS-Shore, David followed a career path in Sales and Marketing with Colgate Palmolive, progressing to Pharmaceutical Supervisor for Boots Drug Co in the Sydney area.
During this time he completed a 3 year, Management Course at Technical College, spent 17 years in the Scouting Movement being a Queens Scout and running local Troops as an ASM. He was then called up in 1959 for National Service, subsequently obtaining the Rank of Lieutenant in the 30th Bn Scottish Infantry -Nth Sydney and later was appointed an instructor in the newly formed Officer Cadet Training Unit at Victoria Barracks for a total Military Service of 8 years.
With a desire to "make a difference", David and his wife created a family business in 1973 called Rural Sales and Marketing P/L. Trading thoughout Eastern Australia selling Golden Dog Food and Permident Cattle Ear Tags to Agricultural Suppliers, growing into a Marketing and Distribution company diversifying into many Agricultural products primarily sourced from New Zealand.
RSM then started trading as Gallagher Australia P/L with the manufacturer Gallagher NZ as a minor shareholder and in 1984 David joined Gallagher New Zealand's Board, serving 12 years.
