800 runners and walkers took part in the San Foundation’s annual San Run for Life event.
The event raised over $30,000 for the renovation of bathrooms and kitchens at the San Cancer Support centre, providing counselling and other resources, and subsidised residential accommodation at Jacaranda Lodge for patients having cancer treatment at any public or private facility in Sydney.
Local representatives were strong supporters with Hornsby Mayor Philip Ruddock firing the starters gun, and State MP's Matt Kean and Alister Henskens joining Federal MP and Minister for Urban Infrastructure Paul Fletcher to compete. Local Federal MP for Berowra Julian Leeser had previously shown his support during a pre-promotional photo shoot at Jacaranda Lodge.

Former Barker College Hornsby student Kieran Tall won both the 10km and 5km race for the second year in a row, with personal best times of 33 minutes 39 seconds and 17 minutes 1 second.
Anna Heath won the female 10km run for the second year running beating her 2017 record by 4 minutes and 7 seconds, coming in at 41 minutes. 12 year old Xanthe Cogan was the winner of the 5km female race clocking a time of 21 minutes and 18 seconds.
In the schools category, Loretto Normanhurst won the Fun Run's Schools Female Championship Cup.

Chatswood's St Pius X College won the Male category of the Cup for the second time running. Especially inspired this year by the battle of teacher Steve Quilty's son, Daniel, with cancer, the school beat their previous years results with their best runner coming in at 19 minutes 37 seconds for the 5km course.
St Pius X fielded more than 13 teams of year 7 to 11 students with two of the teams placing first and third in the 5km race and raising over $900. Many participated in the 'Quilty Strong' team raising over $16,728 and honouring Daniel who finished his chemotherapy at the Hospital on Friday.
The San's Medical Records Department team the 'Record Breakers' raised $3,677 and participated in both the 10km run and the 5km walk.
